In 1951 eight of Yibin’s best traditional distilleries were consolidated into a single state-run distillery, the Yibin Distillery (Yibin Wu liang ye Distillery after 1959). Distilled from a blend of sorghum, rice, glutinous rice, wheat and corn, its baijiu quickly became the standard-bearer of mixed-grain strong aroma baijiu.
