Mulled wine recipe for cozy nights at home
Throughout the ages, mulled wine was associated with good times, warmth, and happiness, all of which are also associated with Christmas and its traditions.
Ingredients
Mulled wine is easy to make an it will fill your house with holiday aromas and cheer. Keep in mind that one bottle of wine has five servings (enough for two to four people), two bottles 10 and so on.
How to choose the red wine
The wine is the most important ingredient, so choose your wine carefully. Some red wines that you usually enjoy at room temperature, will not taste as good heated. You don’t need to buy an expensive wine, but do choose a quality one.
The best red wine to use for this recipe is Merlot, Zinfandel or Garnacha. On www.gmp.ae you have lots of options, plus we will deliver your drinks straight to your door.
Brandy – little quantity, big effect
Use brandy for warming up the aroma of the mulled wine, but don’t add too much. Gray Mackenzie & Partners is currently running an offer on Bardinet Vsop French Brandy – a brand that will take your recipe to new heights.
Fresh Oranges – The most wintery ingredients
Oranges are in season during the cold months of the year. So you will find nice, juicy ones.
Whole Spices – The crucial flavors to a perfect mulled wine recipe
The classic recipe has cinnamon, star anise, and cloves. Use them whole instead of ground.
Honey – How sweet do you prefer your mulled wine?
Play around with the sweetness of the recipe. Some people might like it sweeter, but we think 1/4 cup honey will give the right amount of flavor and sweetness.
Garnishes – Use the ingredients from the mulled wine
We recommend using for garnish spices that are already in your recipe, like oranges, cinnamon sticks or star anise. They not only taste good, they also look good.
